Why is journalism important?
We are considered the “watchdogs” of the government. We help inform our citizens/the public so that they can be aware and make decisions.
What’s the biggest struggle you’ve had to overcome as a teacher?
Comparing myself and my program to others – I learned there is not 1 right way to teach students about journalism, there are many.
Who are your biggest influencers as a teacher?
Rebecka Frey, my former adviser, and Sarah Schreiner, Lisa Roskins, Margie Raper, and Taylor Mersmann. Denton Ryan HS and Prosper ISD schools are near by and the advisers/students challenge us to improve every day.
